What are the differences between private health policy and the EPS?

Health policy companies offer extended benefits much more complete than EPS. In addition to the fact that it is helpful for visa procedures, it is a health plan that has international healthcare coverage, funeral repatriation, hotel expenses for convalescence, compensation for missed flights and lost luggage, short-term disability health policy, and pre-existing conditions coverage, and so on.

Can I cancel the health policy after my visa approval?

No. The health policy must be active during the validity of the visa. Once your application is approved, it will be attached to the health policy you provided in the requirements before the chancellery. Cancellation of the private health policies may result in the loss of the validity of your visa.

What is the difference between travel policy and health policy?

A travel policy focuses on short-term tourism and often includes deductibles or lacks mandatory repatriation clauses, which usually results in visa rejection. Conversely, a health policy is specifically designed for colombia visa applications because it meets all Ministry of Foreign Affairs requirements, providing comprehensive coverage for hospitalization and repatriation for 1, 2 or up to 3 years. This specialized policy is the superior choice as it guarantees a smooth legal process and offers continuous protection for expats.

Is international health policy necessary in Colombia?

All Visitor visas, and some Migrant visas, require mandatory health plan coverage for the entire stay in the country. This health policy must have nationwide coverage and comprehensive protection against all risks.

Do I need a travel health policy for a visa application?

Yes, for visas where travel health policy is mandatory, you should acquire it before applying. That ensures you have all the necessary documentation for your initial application, thereby increasing your chances of approval. EG Assist policies comply with the requirements outlined in Resolution 5477 of 2022 for all visa processes.

What are the health policy requirements for a colombian visa process?

Resolution 5477 of 2022 requires that the travel medical policy cover the entire Colombian territory, provide comprehensive all-risk services, including accidents, death, and repatriation, cover the full validity of the visa for which the applicant wishes to apply, include short-term disability insurance coverage, and cover pre-existing conditions.

How long is the duration of a travel health policy?

Our partners offer comprehensive travel health policies with 1, 2 or up to 3 years of coverage, which positions them as one of the best health policy companies. You can purchase 1, 2, or up to 3 years at the same time.

What kind of health policy do I need? International health policy or a national provider?

International health policies are generally acceptable for Colombian visa applications, provided it meets the government’s requirements for coverage. It’s crucial, however, to ensure that the health policy explicitly states its validity in Colombia and covers the necessary medical benefits as required for the visa.

How much does international health policy cost in Colombia?

The cost of international health policy in Colombia can vary based on the extent of coverage, the traveler’s age, and the duration of the stay. EG Assist policy plans start at 495 USD, with medical assistance coverage of 18.000 USD.

How much time does my health policy need to cover?

For the Colombian visa application, it is mandatory that your health policy covers the entire period of your intended stay.

What are the health policy requirements for obtaining a visa in Colombia?

To obtain a visa for Colombia, applicants must have a health policy that meets specific criteria set by the Colombian government. This includes coverage for medical expenses, repatriation, and hospitalization related to accidents and illnesses that may occur during the stay in Colombia.
