What are the Requirements for Applying for the Conference Visa?

The requirements for applying for a conference visa, as outlined in the resolution, are listed below. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE) may request additional documents beyond those listed.

General
Requirements

Passport

Provide a valid passport with blank pages and at least 6 months of validity.

Digital Photo

One digital photo measuring 3 x 4 cm with a white background and no accessories is required. Printed physical photos are not accepted.

Bank Statements (Events)

Bank statements from the last 3 months for both the foreigner and the company or institution that invited them to the event must demonstrate economic solvency.

Legal Status

Document showing your legal status in the country from which you are applying for the visa: your home country or place of residence.

Motivation Letter (Events)

A motivation letter and invitation must be signed by the legal representative of the inviting company or institution. It should include a detailed schedule of activities with dates, duration, location, participants, and any relevant details, along with a declaration of financial responsibility.

Health Policy for Colombian Visas

Since 2022, the Colombian Government has been requesting a health policy for individuals with visitor visas, including Digital Nomad Visa and some migrant visas. These policies must provide extensive coverage for the following:

  • All-Risk Coverage (Accident, illness, maternity, disability, hospitalization).
  • Death and repatriation.

How Can I Contact a Professional Legal Translator?

Expatgroup.co has, among its functions, that of a legal translation agency specializing in the translation of legal documents, documents issued by public administrations, business documents, financial documents, etc. For this purpose, our team of collaborators includes professional personnel specialized in the legal translation of documents in each of the aforementioned areas, which allows us to guarantee their absolute validity in Colombia and abroad.

How can I obtain the link to pay the visa fees?

At expatgroup.co, we will pay the study fee on your behalf. Once your visa is approved, we will email you the instructions for you to pay the issuance fee.

If you go solo, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will send you the payment link in the visa approval email.

How long does it take to get my cédula de extranjería?

Typically, it may take up to 10 business days from the payment date for the process to be completed. However, the duration may be influenced by the city and other specific factors of Migración Colombia.

What do I do if I lose my Cédula de Extranjería?

Please keep in mind the following steps if you need to request a duplicate of your document from Migración Colombia:

– You should only request a duplicate if you have lost your document. However, if your document was stolen, you must first file a report at the nearest police station, prosecutor’s office, or SIJIN.
– Visit Migración Colombia’s website to schedule an appointment for the duplicate process. During the process, select the Sub-procedure ‘Duplicate.’
– Remember to fill out the Single Form of Procedures (FUT).
– Attend the scheduled appointment at the Colombian Migration office, and bring your original passport, a copy of the visa, and the printed FUT.
– Make the payment of 246,000 Colombian pesos.
