Do you receive monthly payments?
The payment is a one-time fee for full coverage. If you want coverage for a year, you need to pay for the entire year upfront.
Do you work on a reimbursement basis?
Assist Card pays healthcare providers directly, so it’s important to contact them before seeking medical care to ensure Assist Card covers the charges.
Where do I find the medical assistance lines?
You can find Assist Card hotlines in the voucher you received at the time of purchase, or you can manage your active products through their mobile app.
Can I buy only the repatriation benefit?
Upon activation of the policy, Assist Card assumes the risk of accidental death and repatriation. This means that the benefits of each plan cannot be modified. However, travelers have the option to purchase add-ons, such as additional coverage for pre-existing medical conditions.
Is the coverage worldwide?
The coverage is global, except for the birth country.
Can I get more than one year of coverage?
No, Assist Card can only offer a maximum of 365 days of coverage. If you want to renew the policy, you must return to your home country before starting a new year.
How can I obtain the Student plan?
To obtain a Student plan, you must provide a current student certificate and be between 12 and 45 years old.
Do you offer coverage to people from all over the world?
Yes, Assist Card plans are available globally.
Is there an age limit for purchasing an Assist Card plan?
Please take note of the following age limits for Assist Card Plans:
- AC 35 and AC 60 have no age limit.
- AC 150 has an age limit of 80 years old.
- AC 250 has an age limit of 75 years old.
- The Student plan is only available for individuals aged between 12 and 45.
Please be aware that the price of the plans may vary based on the person’s age.
If my visa is denied, can I request a refund?
Visas can be denied for various reasons, and we have demonstrated that our plans meet the Ministry of Foreign Affairs requirements. However, you can request a refund, which will be reviewed by the Terms and Conditions of Assist Card. You can find them by clicking here.
There is no guarantee that you will receive the refund.
How can I request reimbursement?
You can request reimbursement through the mobile application, not the sales chat. If your refund is approved, approximately 6% may be deducted for administrative expenses.
When is my policy activated?
Coverage begins on the date indicated by the client. However, if the customer has been at the destination for more than 24 hours, a 72-hour waiting period will be applied.
What happens if I decide to cancel my policy?
Please keep in mind the following information:
Any requests for cancellation or refunds must be handled through the mobile app. Please note that each request will be reviewed in accordance with our Terms and Conditions.
Also, if you have purchased a plan for visa purposes, please be aware that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be notified. Cancelling your policy will affect the validity of your visa, as the policy must remain active for the duration of your visa.
How much is the minimum amount of coverage I can get?
You have the option to obtain coverage for a duration ranging from 5 days to one year.
If I am in a visa application process in Colombia, how much is the minimum coverage recommended?
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs requires you to demonstrate that you have an active policy for the expected duration of your stay in the country.

We had a problem, that the Colombian medical insurance company that covered me previously, (I’m in my 70’s) simply picked up its skirts and left Popayan, where we live. For some reason, though, they kept me in their records which made it (incomprehensibly) impossible for me to get a replacement policy with a different company. We tried, friends in the medical insurance biz here in Popayan tried, and we could not wriggle loose. But Assist Card came through.
I can’t sing enough praise forAssist Card: they are responsive, well informed — and a blessing for me — they speak English. (And praise for Jeff of Medellinguru, too. He’s a national resource for us expats.) Do yourself a favor, take my advice, and spare that hair you would be tearing out trying to navigate the colombian health requirements and its necessarily evolving conditions in these trying times: pay the pittance and let Assist Card do the work. I wish we had done so many years ago.

I used Assist Card to get the health policy to apply for a Retirement Visa for Colombia after reading about them on Medellin Guru and talking to one of their representatives a few times.
